Programs

Inclusive Education Program

The EEF Inclusive education program’s purpose is to strengthen Congolese public education by enabling all children regardless of their social and disability status to learn and participate effectively within mainstream school systems. To achieve this, EEF implements the following strategies:

(1) Identify children with disabilities at school age to generate data and identify barriers to inclusive education.

(2) Design training materials for teachers and principals of primary and secondary schools on the rights of persons with disabilities and on inclusive education issues: Child Protection, Inclusive Education, and Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

(3) Raise awareness among local populations and parents of children with disabilities to enroll their children in mainstream schools.

(4) Build the capacity of leaders of organizations for people with disabilities to increase their ability to advocate for and participate in the implementation of the UN Convention on Rights of Persons With Disabilities and other legal instruments supporting inclusive education and the rights of individuals with disabilities.

(5) Host public forums on the financing of inclusive education.

Humanitarian Assistance

Through our Inclusive Humanitarian Assistance Program, EEF aims to increase the access of people with disabilities and other marginalized groups including older people, indigenous, and women and girls to humanitarian action. To achieve this, EEF and its partners adopt the following strategies:

(1) Strengthening and systematizing the existing policies and procedures on the inclusion of people with disabilities in humanitarian programs.

(2) Strengthening the ability of Disabled People Organizations to participate in advocacy and decision-making processes regarding the implementation of CRPD at all levels.

(3) Fostering linkages between Disabled People Organizations and humanitarian organizations to enhance access to information and available services for individuals with disabilities.

Economic Empowerment

Support parents of children with disabilities with entrepreneurship education and training as well as financial assistance to starting income-generating activities so that they can be able to support their children’s education and provide them social support.
